The Magpies - 'Undertow' Album cover
Illustration and design project for the UK Folk band in 2022
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to create an album cover for Yorkshire-based transatlantic folk band, The Magpies for their full length release ‘Undertow’ - announced on 2nd September 2022 on their website.
It was a real pleasure to work with @magpiesmusicuk - a wonderfully talented group of musicians who also curated their own sold-out music community music festival for 3 years running.
The illustration was created digitally using procreate, building up textures of real watercolour washes and paper fibres blended in photoshop. The concept, proposed by the band, features the suggestion of a female figure among the 'undertow' of the flowing waves, against a setting sun.
